Overview

The Network Connector for Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) integrates the Network Fault Management solution with MOM 2000/2005 environments to deliver an end-to-end view of the IT infrastructure. Patented analytics deliver automated root cause analysis and integrated impact prioritization, correlated with MOM's detailed knowledge of system and application infrastructure.

MOM monitors, manages and secures a wide range of resources including applications, web server farms, e-commerce sites and corporate servers to automate security management and application monitoring in a Windows-based IT environment. Business Service IntelligenceTM delivers proactive monitoring, intelligent analysis and bidirectional alert forwarding and synchronization. The integration enables customers to leverage the respective strengths of each management application, while delivering strong cross-domain correlation of network, system and application information.

The Network Connector for MOM delivers the following functionality:

• Forward MOM alerts to SPECTRUM®, either running on a Windows platform or on another operating system

• Collect alerts from MOM to be displayed in the SPECTRUM alarm console
  

• Alert synchronization between SPECTRUM and MOM
  

• Forward MOM data to SPECTRUM’s event management system and root cause analysis engine
  

Once alerted by MOM about a system or application event, SPECTRUM makes an on-demand request to the MOM knowledge base for more detailed information. MOM management packs offer granular visibility into Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server and Windows Server 2000/2003 to call attention—often preemptively—to critical events that require administrator intervention. It all adds up to a cost-effective way to drive efficiency
